Panthers Promote G David Yankey & G Lou Young, Officially Activate DE Ryan Delaire From I.R.

The Carolina Panthers promoted G David Yankey and G Lou Young from their practice squad and waived OT Donald Hawkins in a corresponding roster move. Additionally, the team officially activated DE Ryan Delaire as their designated player to return from their injured reserve.

Yankey, 24, is a former fifth-round pick of the Vikings back in 2014. He was unable to make their 53-man roster coming out of the preseason this year but was later signed to their practice squad where he remained for the entire 2015 season.

The Panthers signed him to a future/reserve deal back in January and eventually added him to their practice squad.

He has yet to appear during an NFL game.

Delaire, 25, originally signed on with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent out of Towson back in May of last year. He lasted just a few months with the Buccaneers before he was waived coming out of the preseason and later signed to the Redskins’ practice squad.

The Panthers would later sign him to their active roster and he finished out the year in Carolina.

In 2016, Delaire has appeared in two games for the Panthers and recorded two tackles and no sacks.
