Panthers Promoting Rookie CB Zack Sanchez To Active Roster

The Carolina Panthers are promoting CB Zack Sanchez to their active roster to take CB Bene Benwikere’s roster spot, according to Joe Person.

Sanchez’s agent Ken Sarnoff has confirmed that his client is being promoted.

Sanchez, 22, was taken in the fifth round of this year’s NFL draft at No. 141 overall. He signed a four-year, $2.6 million contract with the Panthers. However, the Panthers elected to waive him coming out of the preseason but still managed to sign him to their practice squad at the start of the season.

During his college career at Oklahoma, Sanchez recorded 134 tackles, a half sack, 15 interceptions, one defensive touchdown, and 28 pass defenses over the course of 36 games.
