Panthers QB Cam Newton Named 2015 Offensive Player Of The Year

The NFL announced Saturday night that Panthers QB Cam Newton has won the 2015 Offensive Player Of The Year.

Newton, 26, is in the first year of his six-year, $118.47 million contract that included $60 million guaranteed. He stands to make base salaries of $13 million (2016), $13.166 million (2017), $14.5 million (2018), $16.2 million (2019) and $18.6 million (2020) over the remainder of the contract.

In 2015, Newton appeared in all 16 games for the Panthers and threw for 3837 yards while completing 59.7 percent of his passes to go along with 35 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He also contributed 636 yards rushing and 10 rushing touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 3 quarterback out of 37 qualifying players.
