Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart To Get His Second Straight Start

Steve Reed of the Associated Press in Charlotte tweets that Panthers head coach Ron Rivera mentioned that RB Jonathan Stewart will be making his second consecutive start against the Bears on Sunday.

“We want one guy to develop a rhythm and then if he gets hot, ride him,” said Rivera.

Its clear that Rivera wants more reliance in his running game, and to do that they need a RB that can get into a rhythm. The Panthers have been distributing the workload between Stewart, DeAngelo Williams, and Mike Tolbert, but it’s clear they need a go-to guy that can take some of the pressure off of Cam Newton and the passing game.  The Panthers want a power-running game in the red zone, so we could see Stewart TD total increase in the upcoming weeks, if he’s able to remain the team’s starter.
