Panthers Re-Sign S Dezmen Southward To Practice Squad, Release LB Zeek Bigger

The Carolina Panthers have re-signed S Dezmen Southward to their practice squad on Tuesday and released LB Zeek Bigger from the unit, according to Bryan Strickland.

The Panthers’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. WR Mose Frazier
  2. OT Blaine Clausell
  3. DE Zach Moore
  4. DE Efe Obada (International)
  5. S Damian Parms
  6. TE Bucky Hodges
  7. WR Austin Duke
  8. WR Jamaal Jones
  9. S Dezmen Southward
  10. CB Zack Sanchez
  11. RB Jalen Simmons

Southward, 26, is a former third-round pick of the Falcons back in 2014. He lasted just over a year in Atlanta before he was cut and was later signed by the Colts to their practice squad.

The Colts brought Southward back in a future’s deal the following years but he was waived with an injury settlement during the first week of the 2015 regular season. He later finished out the year on the Panthers’ practice squad and returned to Carolina on a future/reserve contract.

Southward was later signed to the Panthers’ practice squad after he was waived coming out of the preseason.

In 2017, Southward has been active for one game.
