Panthers Re-Sign WR Steve Smith

According to Eric Edholm of Pro Football Weekly, the Carolina Panthers have signed WR Steve Smith to a three-year contract extension.

Smith, 32, was entering the final year of his current deal that would have counted as $10.9 million against the Panthers cap. Although the specifics of Smith’s contract have yet to be reported, Edholm mentions that the deal should be close to Reggie Wayne‘s three-year, $17.5 million contract that he signed with the Colts, which if true, would be a very reasonable deal for the team.

We had Smith listed as the #32 best player in our Top 50 2013 Free Agents list.
