Panthers Release TE Bucky Hodges From Practice Squad, Sign TE Evan Baylis

The Carolina Panthers announced Tuesday that they’ve released TE Bucky Hodges from their practice squad and signed TE Evan Baylis to the unit.

The Panthers’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. WR Mose Frazier
  2. OT Blaine Clausell
  3. DE Zach Moore
  4. DE Efe Obada (International)
  5. S Damian Parms
  6. WR Jamaal Jones
  7. CB Zack Sanchez
  8. RB Jalen Simmons
  9. DB Dezmen Southward
  10. K Roberto Aguayo
  11. TE Evan Baylis

Hodges, 22, was taken in the sixth-round of this year’s NFL draft by the Vikings. He signed a four-year, $2.55-million contract with the Vikings and stands to make base salaries of $465,000 and $555,000 over the first two years of the agreement.

The Vikings waived him with an injury designation coming out of the preseason and he was later waived from injured reserve with a settlement last month. The Panthers later added him to the practice squad.

During his college career at Virgina Tech, Hodges caught 133 passes for 1,747 yards receiving and 20 touchdowns to go along with 89 rushing and 21 total touchdowns over the course of 39 games.
