Panthers Roster Cuts Including WR Stephen Hill & P Mike Scifres

The Carolina Panthers have begun the process of trimming their roster down to 75 players. Here’s the full list of roster cuts up to this point:

Other roster moves include:

Scifres, 35, is a former fifth-round pick of the Chargers back in 2003. He was in the final year of his six-year, $20 million contract that included $9 million guaranteed when he was released in the days leading up to the draft.

The Panthers later signed him to a contract in June. However, he was expendable after they traded for Andy Lee on Monday.

In 2015, Scifres appeared in all 16 games for the Chargers, totaling 3,261 punt yards on 72 attempts (45.3 per attempt) and 15 punts downed inside the 20 yard line.

Hill, 25, is a former second-round pick of the Jets back in 2012. He spent just two years with the team before he was placed waivers at the start of the 2014 season.

The Panthers later signed Hill to their practice squad and eventually gave him a future/reserve contract. However, he was waived with the injury designation at the start of the 2015 season and later reverted to the injured reserve list.

Carolina brought Hill back on a one-year contract back in March.

In 2013, Hill appeared in 12 games and caught 24 passes for 342 yards receiving and a touchdown.
