Panthers Restructure The Contracts Of TE Greg Olsen & S Haruki Nakamura

Pat Yasinskas of ESPN.com reports that the Panthers also restructured the contract of safety Haruki Nakamura on Friday.

While not a major move, they managed to free up close to $500,000 after Nakamura’s base salary was reduced from $1.3 million to $715,000. Carolina gave Nakamura a $65,000 signing bonus along with a workout bonus of $35,000.

This reduces his cap figure from $1.633 million to $1.115 million.

Nakamura has been mentioned as a potential release candidate, but the Panthers appear to  have him in their 2013 plans.

Pro Football Talk reports that a league source has informed them that the Carolina Panthers have restructured the contact of TE Greg Olsen on Friday.

Olsen, 27, was set to make a $3.75 million base salary in 2012. $3 million of that figure has been converted into an option bonus and the remaining $750,000 will be paid out as his base salary for the upcoming season.

This move is expected to free up  $2.4 million in much needed cap space for the Panthers. More moves will be coming in the next few days as NFL teams work to get down the 2013 salary cap of $123 million.
