Panthers Sign DT Ray Drew

The Carolina Panthers announced that they’ve signed DT Ray Drew to a contract.

Carolina brought Drew in for a workout last week, but didn’t sign him to a contract immediately.

Drew, 23, originally signed on with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Georgia back in May of last year. He was among their early roster cuts, but later signed on to the Browns’ practice squad in October.

Cleveland elected to cut him loose less than a month later. Drew later caught on with the Packers in March before being released in the days leading up to this year’s draft.

Drew has yet to appear in an NFL game.

During his four-year college career, Drew recorded 113 tackles, 13 tackles for a loss, 7.5 sacks, a force fumble, a recovery and three pass defenses.
