Panthers Sign OT Korren Kirven, Waive TE Kent Taylor

The Carolina Panthers announced Tuesday that they’ve signed OT Korren Kirven to a contract and waived TE Kent Taylor.

Kirven, 23, wound up signing on with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent out of Alabama back in May of last year. He was waived coming out of the preseason and later signed on to the Browns’ practice squad.

Kirven finished out the year with the Jets and returned to New York on a futures contract this past January. However, he was waived last week.

Kirven has yet to appear in an NFL game.

Taylor signed on with the Panthers in December of last year as an undrafted free agent out of UTEP and was added to their practice squad. He was brought back on a futures contract this past January.

Taylor is suspended for the first four games of the 2018 season for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing substances policy.

During his college career at Florida, Kansas and UTEP, Taylor caught 25 passes for 234 yards receiving and two touchdowns over the course of three seasons and 23 games played.
