Panthers Sign QB Connor Cook To Practice Squad, Cut DT Kendrick Norton

The Carolina Panthers announced Thursday that they’ve signed QB Connor Cook to their practice squad and released DT Kendrick Norton from the unit.

  • Carolina also released OL Jeremiah Sirles from injured reserve with an injury settlement.

The Panthers’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. QB Kyle Allen
  2. RB Reggie Bonnafon
  3. WR Mose Frazier
  4. TE Jason Vander Laan
  5. G Taylor Hearn
  6. OL Dorian Johnson
  7. DE Kiante Anderson (Injured)
  8. CB Cole Luke
  9. S Dezmen Southward
  10. CB Josh Hawkins
  11. QB Connor Cook

The Panthers worked Cook out on Wednesday, so he was clearly on their radar as a potential addition.

Cook, 24, was taken by the Raiders in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He was entering the third year of his four-year, $2.959 million contract and set to earn a base salary of $630,000 this season when the Raiders waived him coming out of the preseason.

In 2016, Cook appeared in one game and thrown for 150 yards while completing 14 of 21 passing attempts to go along with one touchdown and one interception.
