Panthers Sign Second-Round Pick DE Kony Ealy

The Panthers announced the signing of DE Kony Ealy to a four-year contract on Thursday.

Carolina now has four of their six draft picks under contract not including WR Kelvin Benjamin and G Trai Turner.

Ealy’s four-year contract is worth an estimated $3,546,826 and includes a signing bonus of $899,512, according to OverTheCap.com.

It was interesting to see the Panthers target a defensive end in the second round given that it’s one of their strengths, but it could end up paying off in the event that they allow Greg Hardy to walk in free agency next year.

At Missouri, Ealy totaled 95 tackles, 27 tackles for a loss, 12.5 sacks, four forced fumbles and an interception.
