Panthers Sign TE Eric Wallace, Waive WR Kobi Hamilton

The Carolina Panthers announced Monday that they’ve signed TE Eric Wallace to a three-year contract and placed WR Kobi Hamilton on waivers.

I grew up a Carolina fan,” Wallace said. “Today, the dream came true.

I walked into his office and told him I wanted to play for the Carolina Panthers,” Wallace added. “It was a short chuckle at first, and then he was like, ‘Are you serious?’ I was.

Wallace actually played basketball in college for Ohio State and DePaul. However, he later elected to change sports when he was approached about playing Australian Rules Football.

Wallace spent three years in Australia before returning to North Carolina in November of last year. It was at that point he decided to shift his focus to playing football. The Saints actually invited him to participate in their rookie minicamp, but didn’t receive an offer from the team.

According to the release, Wallace actually approached WRs coach Ricky Proehl at his training facility.
