Panthers Sign TE Scott Simonson & OT Pearce Slater To Practice Squad

The Carolina Panthers announced that they’ve signed TE Scott Simonson and OT Pearce Slater to their practice squad on Wednesday and waived TE Beau Sandland. Carolina also placed DT Eric Crume on the practice squad injured list.

The Panthers’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. DT Eric Crume (injured)
  2. S Travell Dixon
  3. WR Keyarris Garrett
  4. OT Pearce Slater
  5. RB Jalen Simmons
  6. G David Yankey
  7. DE Larry Webster
  8. WR Damiere Byrd
  9. DB Lou Young
  10. DT Bruce Gaston
  11. TE Scott Simonson

Simonson, 23, originally signed on with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Assumption College back May of last year. He was unable to make Oakland’s final 53-man roster coming out of the preseason, but later signed on to the team’s practice squad.

The Raiders elected to place him on waivers back in June but he later caught on with the Panthers. Simonson wasn’t able to secure a spot on their active roster but was signed to their practice squad the start of the season.

He’s been on and off of the roster this season.

In 2016, Simonson appeared in five games for the Panthers but has yet to record a statistic.
