Panthers Sign Veteran CB Cortland Finnegan

The Carolina Panthers announced that they’ve signed veteran CB Cortland Finnegan to a contract on Monday.

Finnegan worked out for Carolina just a few days ago along with Bradley Fletcher and Robert McClain, so he was clearly on their radar.

Finnegan, 31, is a former seventh round pick of the Titans back in 2006. He spent the first four years of his career with Tennessee before joining the Rams in 2012.

St. Louis cut him after two years and he later caught on with the Dolphins in March of last year. Miami ultimately cut Finnegan loose in a move that freed up $5.475 million in available cap space before the start of free agency.

Last year, he recorded 44 tackles, one forced fumble, a recovery, nine pass defenses and scored a defensive touchdown over the course of 12 games. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 74 cornerback out of 108 qualifying players.
