Panthers Signing RB Kenjon Barner

According to Ian Rapoport, the Panthers are signing free agent RB Kenjon Barner to a contract on Friday.

This comes just a day after the Panthers lost RB Fozzy Whitaker to a torn ACL.

Barner recently visited with the Bills, but it appears as though the Panthers proved to be his best option in the end.

Barner, 27, is a former sixth-round pick of the Panthers back in 2013. He spent just over a year in Carolina before he was traded to the Eagles in return for a conditional seventh-round pick that did not meet the qualifications.

The Eagles waived him with an injury settlement at the start of the 2014 season and later brought him back on a future/reserve contract. Philadelphia didn’t tender him a restricted offer a few years ago and he later signed a one-year contract with the Chargers.

Barner returned to the Eagles a few weeks into the 2017 season.

In 2017, Barner appeared in 13 games for the Eagles and rushed for 57 yards on 16 carries (4.4 YPC) to go along with five receptions for 56 yards and one touchdown. He also contributed 194 kick return yards and another 240 punt return yards.
