Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Panthers TE Greg Olsen will likely miss around six games with a broken foot and it’s possible he could be placed on injured reserve.

Rapoport adds that the good news for the Panthers and Olsen is that this is not a season-ending injury.

Panthers TE Greg Olsen told reporters following Sunday’s win over the Bills that he suffered a broken foot.

“I broke my foot,” Olsen said, per Max Henson. “It’s tough. It sucks.”

It was clear that this could be a significant injury for Olsen, as he was on crutches after he left the game.

Ian Rapoport reports that Olsen will visit with foot specialist Dr. Anderson on Monday to evaluate the injury.

Olsen was once considering holding out in order to secure a contract that would pay him among the top tight ends in the NFL, but he decided against skipping training camp and reported to the team.

The Panthers later agreed to include an additional $2 million in incentives to his contract for the 2017 season.

Olsen, 32, is entering the third year of a four-year, $27.75 million contract and is set to make a base salary of  $6.5 million over the course of the final two years of his deal.

In 2016, Olsen appeared in all 16 games and caught 80 passes for 1,073 yards receiving and three touchdowns for the Panthers. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 22 tight end in the league out of 48 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding Olsen and his injury as the news is available.
