Update: Former Chiefs 5th-Round Pick CB DeQuan Menzie Is Retiring From NFL

Update:

Panthers HC Ron Rivera told reporters on Sunday that CB DeQuan Menzie has retired from the NFL, per Steve Reed.

The Panthers waived CB DeQuan Menzie and signed DT Micanor Regis on Saturday, according to the NFL transaction release.

Menzie, 24, was a fifth-round selection of the Chiefs back in 2012. However, he only lasted one year with the team before was waived.

Menzie was claimed off of waivers by the Lions, but couldn’t make the roster coming out of the preseason. Carolina signed Menzie to a reserve/future contract in January, so the fact that he was cut loose on a team that, arguably, could use corner help isn’t a good indication for him moving forward.

Regis, 24, signed with the Falcons as an undrafted free agent out of Miami (FL) in 2012. He was waived before the start of the 2013 season.

Joins a solid group of interior defensive linemen in Carolina.
