Panthers Waive TE Jake McGee From I.R. With Settlement

The Carolina Panthers officially waived TE Jake McGee from their injured reserve list on Tuesday with a settlement.

Yesterday, McGee cleared waivers and reverted to the Panthers injured reserve, so it was possible that they could reach an agreement on a settlement in the coming days that would allow him to seek out a new opportunity with another team.

McGee, 24, signed on with the Panthers as an undrafted free agent out of Florida a few weeks ago. However, he was placed on waivers with the injury designation last week to make room for receivers LaRon Byrd and Tobais Palmer.

Carolina had several tights on their roster as of last week, which explains why they elected to move on from McGee and bring in help at other positions.

During his college career between Virginia and Florida, McGee recorded 112 receptions for 1,150 yards receiving and 11 touchdowns.
