Brockel, 29, originally signed on with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent out of Boise State back in 2010. However, he lasted just a few months in San Diego before he later caught on with the Panthers the following year.
Brockel was in the final year of his two-year, $1.610 million contract that included a $75,000 signing bonus.
This season, Brockel has appeared in two games, but didn’t record a single reception.
