Panthers Work Out WR Austin Pettis

Pro Football Talk is reporting that the Carolina Panthers brought in veteran WR Austin Pettis for a workout on Wednesday.

This news comes just a day after the Panthers cut offseason acquisition Jason Avant. Head coach Ron Rivera told reporters that they wanted to get Philly Brown and Brenton Bersin more work, but it appears as though they are considering available upgrades at receiver.

The Rams waived Pettis close to a month ago and has since worked out for the Seattle Seahawks.

Pettis, 26, is a former 2011 third-round pick of the Rams, but has been limited to playing just 34 percent of the team’s snaps in 2014. He has appeared in five games and caught 12 passes for 118 yards receiving and one touchdown while playing for the Rams this year.
