Panthers Working Out Kickers Including Andrew Franks, Roberto Aguayo & Younghoe Koo

Ian Rapoport reports that Panthers K Graham Gano is “working through something” and Carolina is planning to bring in some kicker for workouts including Andrew Franks on Tuesday.

Even so, Rapoport adds that Gano is not ruled out for Week 8’s game.

Franks, 24, signed on with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Rensselaer back in May of 2015. He was entering the final year of a three-year $1.575 million contract and was set to make a base salary of $615,000 this season when the Dolphins waived him coming out of the preseason after they claimed K Cody Parkey off of waivers from the Browns.

In 2016, Franks appeared in all 16 games for Miami and recorded 16 field goals on 21 attempts (76.2 percent) to go along with 41 converted extra points on 42 attempts (97.6 percent), while kicking 43 touchbacks.

Koo, 23, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent out of Georgia Southern back in May. He was set to make a base salary of $465,000 for the 2017 season when the Chargers waived him a few weeks ago and re-signed K Nick Novak.

In 2017, Koo has appeared in four games for the Chargers and converted just three of six field goal attempts and all nine extra point tries.

Aguayo, 23, was selected with the No. 59 overall pick after the Buccaneers traded up to get him in 2016. He was in the second year of his four-year, $4.053 million contract and set to make a base salary of $634,208 for the 2017 season when the Buccaneers elected to cut Aguayo loose back in August.

The Bears later claimed Aguayo off of waivers, but unfortunately, waived him coming out of the preseason.

In 2016, Aguayo appeared in all 16 games for the Buccaneers and converted 22 of 31 field goal attempts (71 percent) to go along with 32 of 34 extra point tries and 52 touchbacks.
