Panthers Would Prefer QB Cam Newton Doesn’t Play In Week 1?

 

According to the Black & Blue Review, the Panthers would prefer that QB Cam Newton doesn’t play in their season opener.

• Black & Blue Review adds that the situation remains “VERY fluid” and will likely come down to Sunday morning before a decision is made.

However, Newton is reportedly trying to convince  himself and the coaching staff that he can suit up for this weekend’s game against the Buccaneers.

Head coach Ron Rivera told reporters that Newton was able to throw in Friday’s practice and worked exclusively with first-team offense, but they are still waiting to see how his body responds.

Carolina has Newton officially listed as questionable with a rib injury. We’ll have more updates as the news is available.
