Patrick Crayton On The Trading Block

Patrick Crayton began the year by deciding to holdout out, only to join the Cowboys months later. Crayton said that he held out because he was afraid that the team would cut him after the offseason and preseason programs. While there’s chance that he could have been right about the teams intentions to cut him, it would be hard to believe that he helped his chances of making the team by holding out in the first place.

Tim MacMahon of ESPNDallas.com writes “The Cowboys are exploring the trade market for Crayton.” “If they can’t make a deal, there’s a decent chance that they’ll cut a guy who is arguably their most reliable receiver.”

Crayton is a talented wide-receiver but his current situation in Dallas is going to limit his playing time and touches. Right now, there are a number of teams who could use a receiver like Crayton which makes him much more likely to be traded than cut. Anyone of the St. Louis Rams, Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills or Washington Redskins could show interest in the receiver but this obviously comes done to the Cowboys asking price.
