Patriots Also Hosted Dolphins RFA RB Damien Williams For Visit

According to Field Yates of ESPN, the Patriots brought in Dolphins restricted free agent RB Damien Williams for a visit on Wednesday.

This comes shortly after the news that New England also met with Bills restricted free agent RB Mike Gillislee, so the Patriots are clearly casting a wide net when it comes to finding another running back.

Miami placed an original-round tender on Williams that would cost them around $1.797 million for the 2017 season, but wouldn’t net them any compensation, considering that he was an undrafted free agent.

Williams, 25, originally signed on with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Oklahoma back in 2014. He just finished the final year of a three-year, $1,535,000 contract.

In 2016, Williams appeared in 15 games for the Dolphins and recorded 115 yards on 35 carries (3.3 YPC) and three touchdowns. He also accumulated 23 receptions for 249 yards receiving and three touchdowns.
