Shalise Manza Young of the Boston Globe reports that the Patriots have decided to re-sign DE Gerard Warren now that the team is sitting dead last in terms of total yards allowed.
Head coach Bill Belichick referred to the decision to release Warren before the start of the season as a “hard cut.”
Injuries to Albert Haynesworth and Mike Wright have had an impact on the teams defensive line depth so the addition of Warren seems like a no-brainer for the Patriots considering his familiarity with their system. New England will need to get to the passer more in the coming weeks if they’re going to take of the pressure off of their secondary.
