Trey Wingo of ESPN reports that the Patriots are bringing in free agent DE Chris Long for a workout on Monday.

Long recently mentioned that he planned to take a few more visits in the coming weeks and David Moore of the Dallas Morning News recently reported that he is expected to meet with the Cowboys at some point next week.

The Falcons and Redskins have already brought him in for visits in the past week, so they appear to be in the mix for him as well.

It’s worth mentioning that signing Long to a contract wouldn’t factor into a team’s 2017 compensatory picks.

Long, 30, was in the final year of his five-year, $60.31 million contract and was set to make a base salary of $9.75 million for the 2016 season when he was released.

In 2015, Long appeared in 12 games and recorded 19 tackles, three sacks, and a forced fumble for the Rams. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 98 edge defender out of 110 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 2016 Free Agents list.
