Patriots Claim RB Trey Williams Off Waivers From Cowboys, Place DE Trey Flowers On I.R.

Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Patriots have claimed RB Trey Williams off of waivers from the Cowboys on Tuesday.

  • The Patriots placed DE Trey Flowers on season-ending injured reserve to create a roster spot for Williams.

Williams, 22, wound up signing on with the Redskins as an undrafted free agent out of Texas A&M a few days after this year’s NFL draft. He was unable to make the team’s 53-man roster coming out of the preseason, but was later added to their practice squad.

The Cowboys signed Williams off of the Redskins practice squad a few weeks ago before being waived on Monday.

Wiliams has yet to appear in an NFL game.

Flowers, 22, was selected in the fourth round of this year’s NFL draft. He signed a four-year, $2,838,932 rookie contract that included included a $558,932 signing bonus with the Patriots.

Flowers was active for one game this season, but didn’t record a single tackle.
