Patriots Sign FB James Develin To Two-Year, $3.8M Extension

Jeff Howe of the Atheltic reports that the Patriots and FB James Develin have agreed to terms on a two-year, $3.8 million extension that includes a $600,000 signing bonus.

Develin, 29, wound up signing on with the Bengals as an undrafted free agent out of Brown back in 2010. He spent just over two years in Cincinnati before he was waived at the start of the 2012 season.

The Patriots later signed him to their practice squad and brought him back on a two-year contract last year. Develin was set to make a base salary of $800,000 for the 2018 season.

In 2017, Develin appeared in all 16 games for the Patriots and caught six passes for 38 yards receiving and no touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 2 fullback out of 18 qualifying players.
