Patriots Discussing Vincent Jackson For Logan Mankins?

Speculation, that the New England Patriots are trying to fill Moss’s role in the teams offense, has run rampant since the  Randy Moss trade.

The Patriots have been rumored to be interested in acquiring Deion Branch back from the Seattle Seahawks. Steve Smith of the Carolina Panthers and Lee Evans of the Buffalo Bills have also been rumored to be options for the Patriots.

Tom Curran of CSNNE.com is reporting that the team has discussed the possibility of trading for Vincent Jackson. Curran mentions that the Patriots have considered trading Logan Mankins in return for Jackson from the Chargers.

Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the Chargers are asking for a second-round pick and a third-round pick from an NFC team while the cost for an AFC team would be a first-round pick and a second-round pick. This is a pretty steep price for Jackson but there is no doubt that he is a very talented wide receiver.

Since Jackson was a restricted free agent during the offseason, a team could have had him for a first and third-round pick if the Chargers declined to match the offer. We’ll have to see how this situation progresses.
