Patriots Expected To Keep Chad Ochocinco

ESPN’s Adam Schefter believes that the New England Patriots will “absolutely” retain WR Chad Ochocinco for the 2012 season.

Ochocinco will be back in New England next year,” said Schefter, via ESPNBoston.com. “They believe that he’ll spend this offseason immersing himself in the playbook, familiarizing himself with the Patriots’ offense. They’re going to bring all these wide receivers in and let them compete in training camp and the best receivers will play.”

That makes plenty of sense when you consider that they’ve signed Donte Stallworth, Brandon Lloyd, Anthony Gonzalez and Deion Branch thus far.

The Patriots are reportedly working on reducing Ochocinco’s cap number of  $4.5 million which makes plenty of sense considering his poor 2011 season, paired with the amount of competition that they’ve brought in.
