Patriots Have Expressed Interest In Drafting UCLA QB Josh Rosen

Doug Kyed of NESN reports that the Patriots have expressed interest in drafting UCLA QB Josh Rosen.

The Patriots have clearly positioned themselves to move up for a quarterback in round one, depending on how things play out at the top of the draft. Interestingly enough, a number NFL insiders have mentioned Rosen as someone who could drop a bit in the early part of round one.

Kyed mentions that if Rosen is still on the board at No. 9 overall, it’s possible they could call the 49ers, whom they’ve dealt with before, and offer a package of draft picks to move up. Based on the draft value chart, New England could either offer No. 23 and No. 31 overall or a package that includes No. 23, 43 and 95 for No. 9 overall.

New England is clearly a team to watch in regards to quarterbacks this year, given that Tom Brady is in his 40s and there are questions about how much longer he’ll keep playing.

Rosen has reportedly met with the Giants, Jets, Cardinals, Browns, Broncos and Chargers during the pre-draft process.

Rosen, 21, figures to be one of the first four quarterbacks to come off the board and could end up going as high as No. 2 overall, depending on what happens with the Giants and teams looking to move up the board for a quarterback.

During his college career at UCLA, Rosen threw for 9,301 yards while completing 60.8 percent of his passes to go along with 59 touchdowns and 26 interceptions over the course of 30 games.
