Patriots “All But Certain” To Have Both Jimmy Garoppolo & Jacoby Brissett In Week 4

Update:

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Patriots are “all but certain” to have quarterbacks Jimmy Garoppolo and Jacoby Brissett available for their Week 4 game against the Bills.

Schefter points out that New England did not bring in any quarterbacks for workouts this week, which is a good sign that they expect their guys to suit up. Schefter goes as far to say that it would be an “upset” if one or both aren’t available.

ESPN’s Ed Werder reports that the Patriots are hopeful that both quarterbacks Jimmy Garoppolo and Jacoby Brissett will be healthy enough to play in their Week 4 matchup against the Bills.

  • Dan Graziano, however, says it’s still too early to say for sure, but New England believes they’ll have at least one of their two quarterbacks available.

On Sunday, Adam Schefter reports that the Patriots are hopeful and confident they will have at least, and possibly both, of their quarterbacks available next week.

Garoppolo has reportedly been making progress in regards to his sprained AC joint, but it will still likely be a pain issue for him.

As for rookie Brissett, Schefter mentioned that they still want to see how his thumb injury responds, but there’s a “realistic chance” he’ll be available as well.

If the Patriots need to sign a quarterback next week, Schefter said they’ll likely bring in T.J. Yates, who visited New England last week and try to get him up to speed.

Brissett, 22, was taken in the third round of this year’s NFL draft by the Patriots. He’s in the first year of his four-year, $3.411 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $450,000 for the 2016 season.

This year, Brissett has thrown for 195 yards while completing 60.7 percent of his passes to go along with 60 yards rushing and a touchdown on the ground.

Garoppolo, 24, is a former second-round pick of the Patriots back in 2014. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $3,483,898 rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $686,718 for the 2016 season.

This season, Garoppolo has completed 42 of 59 passing attempts for 496 yards and four touchdowns for the Patriots over the course of two games.

We’ll have more regarding the Patriots’ quarterbacks as the news is available.
