Patriots Hosted Veteran DE Jared Odrick For A Visit

Mike Kaye of First Coast News reports that the Patriots hosted free agent DE Jared Odrick for a visit this week and he was able to pass a physical for them.

This is the first reported interest in Odrick since he became available last week.

It’s worth mentioning that signing Odrick to a contract won’t impact a team’s compensatory picks, considering that he was released.

Odrick, 29, is a former first-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2010. He spent five years in Miami before he signed a five-year, $42.5 million contract with $22 million guaranteed with the Jaguars in 2015.

Odrick was set to make a base salary of $6.5 million for the 2017 season when he was released in a move that freed up $8.5 million of available cap space for the Jaguars.

In 2016, Odrick was limited to appearing in just six games for the Jaguars and recorded 12 tackles, one sack, a forced fumble and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 91 interior defensive lineman out of 127 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding Odrick and the Patriots as the news is available.
