Patriots Hosting NT Terrance Knighton For A Visit, Redskins Interested In Re-Signing Him

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Patriots are bringing in free agent NT Terrance Knighton for a visit on Monday.

  • According to Rapoport, the Redskins are still interested in re-signing Knighton.

This is the first reported visit for Knighton since free agency opened over three weeks ago.

The Patriots had shown some interest in Nick Fairley, but he elected to sign on with the Saints, so it appears as though New England is taking a look at some contingency options.

Knighton, 29, is a former third-round pick of the Jaguars back in 2009. After four years in Jacksonville, Knighton signed on with the Broncos in 2013.

He wound up signing a one-year, $4 million contract with the Redskins after finding a limited amount of interest last year and is once again testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent.

In 2015, Knighton appeared in 15 games for the Redskins and totaled 29 tackles and 1.5 sacks. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 27 defensive tackle out of 70 qualifying players.
