Patriots Paying DT Woodrow Hamilton Active Roster Salary, Despite Being On PS

Miguel Benzan reported earlier in the day that the Patriots are paying DT Woodrow Hamilton an active roster salary of $26,740 per week, despite the fact that he’s on their practice squad.

The practice squad minimum right now is $6,900 per week, so this is a nice gesture by the Patriots.

According to Benzan, Hamilton becomes the sixth players currently on the Patriots’ practice squad to be paid more than minimum with the other players being Darius Kilgo, Trevor Bates, Chris Barker, DeAndrew White and Tyler Gaffney.

Hamilton, 24, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of Mississippi back in May. He was unable to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason but was later signed to their practice squad.

The Patriot promoted him to their active roster back in October but cut him loose a few months later to make room for QB Jacoby Brissett. Hamilton was later re-signed to their practice squad.

In 2016, Hamilton has appeared in two games and recorded three tackles and no sacks for the Patriots.
