Patriots Paying RB D.J. Foster Active Roster Salary, Despite Being On Practice Squad

Ben Volin of the Boston Globe reports that even though the Patriots waived RB D.J. Foster and later added him to their practice squad, New England is still paying him the same salary.

Volin adds that Foster will continue to make $26,470 per week, which is quite a bit more than the practice squad minimum salary of $6,900 per week.

It seemed like some team could place a waiver claim for Foster but he cleared waivers and was immediately added to the Patriots’ taxi squad.

Foster, 23, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of Arizona State back in May. He was set to make base salaries of $450,000 and $540,000 over the next two years when the Patriots waived him on Monday to make room for DT Darius Kilgo, who was claimed off waivers from the Broncos.

In 2016, Foster has appeared in three games for the Patriots and rushed for 24 yards on seven carries (3.4 YPC) to go along with one reception for two yards receiving and no touchdowns.
