Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Patriots have placed CB Alfonzo Dennard, WR Aaron Dobson, WR Jeremy Gallon, DT Tommy Kelly and ST/WR Matt Slater on the physically unable to practice list to start training camp.
- The Patriots also placed first-round pick DL Dominique Easley on the active/NFI list.
Dennard is recovering from offseason shoulder surgery, but as long as he can be healthy in time for the start of the season, he should be team’s starter opposite of Darrelle Revis.
Dobson underwent offseason foot surgery and was hoping to be back for the start of camp. Meanwhile, Slater was expected to miss 4-6 weeks with a fractured wrist. Both players are still in good position to secure roster spots.
Kelly, 33, is working his way back from an ACL injury he suffered last year, but all indications are that he should be ready for the start of the season. He will still need to secure his roster during training camp.
