Patriots Place CB Jonathan Jones On IR, Sign WR Bernard Reedy

The New England Patriots placed CB Jonathan Jones on injured reserve Wednesday and signed WR Bernard Reedy to their active roster, according to Mike Reiss.

Jones, 24, signed on with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of Auburn back in 2016. He’s currently in the second year of his three-year, $1.62 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $630,000 for the 2018 season.

In 2017, Jones appeared in all 16 games for the Patriots and recorded 44 tackles, one sack, an interception and eight pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 65 cornerback out of 121 qualifying players.

Reedy, 26, originally signed on with the Falcons as an undrafted free agent out of Toledo back in 2014. He was unfortunately among their roster cuts at the start of the 2015 season and eventually signed a future/reserve contract with the Buccaneers.

Reedy was able to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason, but the Buccaneers elected to move on from him a few weeks ago.

In 2017, Reedy has appeared in 11 games for the Buccaneers and Patriots and caught two passes for 21 yards receiving to go along with 17 yards rushing and no touchdowns. He’s totaled 145 kick return yards and 143 punt return yards.
