The New England Patriots officially placed DE Corey Vereen on injured reserve Tuesday after he passed through waivers unclaimed.
Vereen, 21, wound up signing on with the Patriots an undrafted free agent out of Tennessee a month ago. The Patriots elected to cut him loose on Monday to make room for DB William Likely.
During his college career at Tennessee, Vereen recorded 111 tackles, 26 tackles for a loss, 13 sacks, three fumble recoveries and five pass defenses over the course of four seasons and 42 games.
