Field Yates of ESPN is reporting that the Patriots have placed LB Jerod Mayo on season-ending injured reserve Tuesday with a shoulder injury.

Mayo, 29, agreed to a pay cut last that paid him a salary of $4.5 million for the 2015 season to go along with $1.5 million in available through incentives. He has another two years remaining on his agreement and stands to make a bases salary of $3.25 million in 2016 and another $6.75 million in 2017.

In 2015, Mayo appeared in all 16 games and recorded 47 tackles, one sack and a pass defense for the Patriots. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 26 inside linebacker out of 60 qualifying players.
