Patriots Place RB LeGarrette Blount On Season-Ending I.R.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Patriots are placing RB LeGarrette Blount on season-ending injured reserve with a hip injury on Wednesday.

This will free up a roster spot for one of the two players they claimed off of waivers today.

Blount, 29, is in the final year of his two-year, $1.73 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $750,000 for the 2015 season before becoming an unrestricted free agent next March.

Blount’s 2015 season comes to an end with him appearing in 12 games and rushing for 703 yards on 165 carries (4.3 YPC) to go along with six receptions for 43 yards receiving and seven total touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 25 running back out of 67 qualifying players.
