Patriots Prepared To Lure Ed Reed Away From The Ravens?

Greg A. Bedard reports that league sources have informed him that the Patriots are expected to attempt to lure away Ravens FS Ed Reed with an offer worth close to $5 million per year.

There’s been a lot of talk that the Patriots were likely to target Reed given that he’s one of Bill Belichick’s favorite players.

Baltimore has said that Reed is one of their top offseason priorities, but Joe Flacco’s contract figures to have an impact on what they can do in regards to retaining their free agents.

Bedard believes free agent Charles Woodson wouldn’t be a great fit for them, despite speculation that he too could be an option for the Pats.

The Indianapolis Colts have also been tossed out as a potential landing spot for Reed given his time playing under Chuck Pagano.

We have Reed listed as the No. 39 best available player in our recently updated Top 50 Free Agents list.
