Patriots Promote DT Khyri Thornton To Their Active Roster

The New England Patriots announced a series of roster moves on Thursday including their trade that sent TE Michael Hoomanawanui to the Saints for DL Akiem Hicks.

  • The Patriots also signed DL Khyri Thornton from the practice squad to the 53-man roster.
  • DB Brandon Dixon, OL Sean Hickey, WR Austin Hill and LB Eric Martin were added to New England’s practice squad.

The Patriots’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. DB Brandon Dixon
  2. OL Sean Hickey
  3.  WR Austin Hill
  4. LB Eric Martin
  5. WR Chris Harper
  6. OT Cameron Fleming
  7. TE Asante Cleveland
  8. OT Blaine Clausell
  9. LB Darius Fleming
  10. LB Brandon King

Thornton, 25, is a former third-round pick of the Packers back in 2014. However, despite his draft status, Thornton lasted just a little over a year in Green Bay before he waived a few weeks back.

The Patriots wound up claiming him off waivers, but later added him to their practice squad after they cut him and he cleared waivers.

Thornton has yet to appear in an NFL game
