Patriots RB Dion Lewis Reportedly Needs 2nd Knee Surgery, Could Take 8-10 Weeks To Recover

According to Adam Schefter, Patriots RB Dion Lewis requires a clean-up knee surgery that will sideline him indefinitely.

Tom E. CurranĀ confirms that Lewis’ surgery is not related to his ACL, while his recovery from surgery could takeĀ 8-10 weeks.

Ian Rapoport mentions that Lewis may start the season on the team’s physically unable to perform list.

Jim McBride of the Boston Globe, citing a league source, reports that Patriots RBĀ Dion Lewis needs a second surgery on his knee following an ACL tear he suffered last year.

According to McBride, a timetable for how long Lewis could be out his currently uncertain.

There has already been some talk that Lewis could open the year on the team’s PUP list, which would cost him the first six weeks of the season. However, it appears as though this is all but a certainty now that he needs a second surgery on his knee.

Lewis, 25, signed aĀ three-year, $3.1 million contractĀ thatĀ included a $600,000 signing bonus with the Patriots just a month ago after getting out to an impressive start to the 2015 season. He stands to make a base salary ofĀ $800,000 in 2016 and anotherĀ $1.2 million in 2017.

In 2015, Lewis appeared in six games and ran for 220 yards on 45 carries (4.9 YPC) to go along with 349 yards receiving and four total touchdowns.
