Patriots RB LeGarrette Blount Suspended One Game For Violating Substances Abuse Policy

The NFL has suspended Patriots RB LeGarrette Blount one game without pay for violating the league’s Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse, per Kimberly Martin.

  • This suspension stems from his arrest before the start of the 2014 season when he was playing for the Steelers.
  • Blount will be able to participate in the Patriots offseason work outs and preseason games.

Blount, 28, signed a two-year, $1.73 million contract with the Patriots after he was cut mid-season by the Steelers. He still has one year remaining on the agreement and stands to make a base salary of $750,000 for the 2015 season.

In 2014, Blount appeared in all 16 games for the Steelers and Patriots last year and ran for 547 yards on 125 carries (4.4 YPC) to go along with five touchdowns. He also contributed 10 receptions for 54 yards receiving.
