Patriots Re-Sign DB Nate Ebner, He’s Taking A Leave Of Absence To Train For Olympics

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Patriots S Nate Ebner is taking leave of absence from team starting Tuesday to begin training for the U.S. rugby team and summer Olympics.

  • According to Schefter, Ebner will return to the team in August.
  • The Patriots officially announced that they’ve re-signed him to a contract on Tuesday.

The New England Patriots have re-signed DB Nate Ebner on Saturday, according to his agent Sean Stellato (via Karen Guregian).

  • Tom Curran reports that Ebner receives a two-year contract from New England.

Ebner, 27, was taken in the sixth-round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Patriots. He played out his rookie contract before testing the market as an unrestricted free agent for the first time this year.

In 2015, Ebner appeared in 15 games for the Patriots and recorded 13 tackles. He played a total of 49 defensive snaps last year, according to Pro Football Focus.
