Patriots Sign WR/KR Chris Harper & DT Kelcy Quarles To Practice Squad

The New England Patriots signed WR Chris Harper and DT Kelcy Quarles to their practice squad on Wednesday, according to Mike Reiss.

The Patriots’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. DT Kelcy Quarles
  2. WR Chris Harper
  3. WR Austin Hill
  4. G Chris Barker
  5. TE Joseph Fauria
  6. DB Chris Greenwood
  7. OL Keavon Milton
  8. OL Torrian Wilson
  9. FB Joey Iosefa

Harper, 21, signed on with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of California back in May, just days after this year’s draft. He was able to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason, but was later waived and signed to their practice squad.

New England promoted him to their active roster a few weeks ago. However, Harper lost a fumble during Sunday’s game that helped the Broncos in their comeback and was waived on Monday.

This season, Harper has appeared in three games and totaled 17 punt return yards.

Quarles, 23, signed with the Giants as an undrafted free agent out of South Carolina back in May. However, he lasted just a few months with the Giants before he was cut at the start of the season and later claimed off of waivers by the Patriots.

Since then, Quarles has had brief stints with the Colts and Browns.

Last year, Quarles appeared in two games and recorded one tackle, one saack and a pass defense.
