Patriots Re-Signing RB D.J. Foster & TE Kennard Backman To Practice Squad

The New England Patriots officially re-signed RB D.J. Foster to their practice squad after he officially cleared waivers on Tuesday. The Patriots also added TE Kennard Backman to their practice squad.

The Patriots’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. G Chris Barker
  2. WR Devin Lucien
  3. WR DeAndrew White
  4. WR Shaq Evans
  5. G Jamil Douglas
  6. G Chase Farris
  7. LB Trevor Bates
  8. RB Tyler Gaffney
  9. FB Glenn Gronkowski
  10. RB D.J. Foster
  11. TE Kennard Backman

Foster, 23, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of Arizona State back in May. He was to make base salaries of $450,000 and $540,000 over the next two years when the Patriots waived him on Monday to make room for DT Darius Kilgo, who was claimed off waivers from the Broncos.

In 2016, Foster has appeared in three games for the Patriots and rushed for 24 yards on seven carries (3.4 YPC) to go along with one reception for two yards receiving and no touchdowns.
